The first step you need to take to configure the Agent is to associate the appropriate certificates with ReferralNet accounts.
You should only ever configure one computer to monitor a ReferralNet account. In other words, if you install the Agent on two computers, both configured to use the same ReferralNet account, you may experience unexpected outcomes.
The Accounts tab of the configuration screen will show you a list of all available certificates:
To associate ReferralNet accounts to a certificate, either double click on a certificate entry or highlight a certificate and click Link. The agent software will present a list of currently enabled ReferralNet member accounts that have been registered with the same PKI email address as what it has located within the selected X.509 certificate.
Select the ReferralNet account(s) you want to link to this certificate, provide their password in the click on update.
To disassociate a ReferralNet account from a certificate, click on Link and remove the tick from the relevant account's checkbox.
You will not be able to configure any actions until you have associated at least one certificate to a valid ReferralNet account.
Before you can use a certificate, it needs to be imported into Window's certificate store.
Windows actually has many certificate stores, we're only interested in two: the current users's personal store, and the local machine's personal store.
When installed as a tray application, the Agent will access certificate in both the current user and local machine stores.
When installed as a Windows service, the Agent will only be able to access certificates installed in the local machine's store.
To import a certificate you can use the Import Certificate button and either browse to the actual certificate file itself or alternatively you can also browse to a pre-existing Medicare PSI Store and the certificate will be automatically imported into the correct Windows certificate store.
Note: If you double-click on a .p12 file from within Windows Explorer and follow the default settings, it will be imported into the current user's store only.
