ReferralNet Agent - Configuring Microsoft Office Integration

Please note that ReferralNet Microsoft Word plugin integration does not work on Microsoft Office/Word 64-bit edition.

Sending from Microsoft Word

The ReferralNet agent seamlessly integrates with Microsoft Word in order to facilitate the secure packaging and transmission of either native Word documents and/or HL7 2.3.1 REF I12 (Patient Referral) messages.

If you wish to limit the agent to just HL7 Patient Referral messages, simply check the Allow sending of HL7 referrals only, but if you want to also send native Word documents that are not governed by health domain standards, then you can also check the Allow sending of Word documents.

Once you have configured the Microsoft Office settings within the agent as desired, you need to start / re-start the Microsoft Word application, where upon you should notice an additional ReferralNet menu option appear at the top of the window.

If you have enabled both Allow sending of Word documents and Allow sending of HL7 referrals then these options will be reflected by the appearance of two discrete icons within the ReferralNet menu context, othwerwise just the single relevant icon will appear. (See Figure 4)

Note: If you enable the ability to send native Word documents to recipients within the Health domain, please be aware that most receiving clinical applications have a strong preference towards the use of HL7 and as such may not support arbitrary documents outside of this messaging standard.

Supported Template Options

The agent supports four modes of integration with Microsoft Word;

  1. Static text

Field Mappings

Static Text

The agent looks for a line starting with any of (case insensitive):

Patient Name:
Recipient:
Referred by:

For each line it finds, it extracts the following data:

Patient Name:
DOB:
Recipient:
Referred by:

DOB is dd/mm/yyyy

Example:

Patient Name: Anderson, David DOB: 4/1/1955
Referred by: Dr. A. Practitioner Date of Report: 14/8/2009
Recipient: Glob Jones

Also valid as

Patient Name: Anderson, David DOB: 4/1/1955 Referred by: Dr. A. Practitioner Date of Report: 14/8/2009 Recipient: Glob Jones
