ReferralNet Agent Troubleshooting

What does "Invalid timestamp The security semantics of the message have expired" mean?

When I try to access the service, the agent reports this error: An error was discovered processing the header. (WSSecurityEngine: Invalid timestamp The security semantics of the message have expired.)

Each message sent by a client application contains a time-stamp. The server refuses messages sent more than five minutes ago. This is to prevent replay attacks (where an attacker gets hold of a valid message and then sends it again later). It may also manifest itself as a HTTP 400 Bad Request response, more details can be located here.

Ensure the time on the workstation is correct (using time synchronisation is recommended).

What does Certificate for recipient(s) specified in the EnvelopedData object cannot be found mean?

This error message is encountered during an attempt to decrypt a received message, with the primary cause being that the recipients certificate does not match the public certificate used by the sender to encrypt the message. The problem could be either at the distributor of the recipients public certificate or at the receivers end as they may have multiple certificates and have not published these into their certificate store.

When I start the agent, it runs for a while, then either disappears from the system tray or simply stops running?

The primary cause of this issue tends to be the presence of over zealous anti-virus software that is running on the same machine as the ReferralNet agent. The Nod32 antivirus application seems to be the most problematic for ReferralNet installations and needs to be configured to exclude the agent executables so that they are not quaranteened everytime they execute.

What things do I need to watch out for when installing the agent onto a Terminal Services environment?

I have User Account Control (UAC) enabled on my machine and I am getting "Requested operation requires elevation" messages, what does this mean?
