Frequently Asked Questions

Can I fix the ReferralNet Desktop Applications' reply-to template to be of a particular type?

Currently the reply-to option supports two different templates, the Free Form and the Clipboard Only, with the Free Form being the default. If you wish the Clipboard Only template to be used when forming a reply to a previously received Clipboard Only message template, then you can set this via the Configuration menu option dialog (refer below illustration).

When sending information directly from the clipboard is desired without allowing it to be modified after the fact, the Clipboard Only template is designed specifically for this purpose.

Can I lock down the ReferralNet Desktop Applications' User Interface such that users' are unable to modify system settings?

Yes, in a managed environment there may be the requirement to disable functionality on the ReferralNet desktop client that allows users' to modify configurable attributes once the initial install and configure process has been completed.

The method of governing the visibility of configurable options within the desktop applications' user interface is through the Windows registry, specifying a locked registry string value as per the following:

A useful feature of this is that an administrator or support officer can create two Registration Entries files, one to lock the UI down (lock_ui.reg), the other to enable it (unlock_ui.reg) and bundle it with their install packages. The course of events would be:

  • Install the desktop client application.
  • Configure as required, creating and binding user accounts, clinical integration etc.
  • Double click on the lock_ui.reg file.
  • Re-start the desktop client application.
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\ghl\referralnet\client\utilities]
"locked"="true"

"Failed to register capicom.dll" or "Interface not supported" Error

In order to function on Windows, the desktop client needs to register (or install) a DLL.

On most systems this DLL will already be registered; if not, the desktop client will automatically register the DLL if you have the appropriate permissions (you need to have Administrator access to the workstation).

To manually register the DLL, log onto the workstation as an account with Administrator access, download and run the installer CapiComInstall.exe.
